What are the best laptops in Kenya: From High-end to Budget level Laptops

 Best High-End Laptops in Kenya

  1. Apple MacBook Pro M1

Launched at the end of 2020, this latest version of the MacBook Pro 13 has not changed much since 2016, at least on the outside. Inside, however, it's a different story. By installing an M1 chip under the keyboard, Apple has given a tremendous boost to its compact MacBook Pro.

This new ARM processor, designed in-house, is wickedly fast and benefits from excellent energy efficiency leading to high-flying autonomy. For the rest, Apple delivers us as always a perfectly assembled machine, a sober and elegant design, as well as excellent display quality. Only the reduced connectivity of the device may cause problems for some users.

  1. Lenovo Legion 5 Pro (2021)

It's effortless. The Lenovo Legion 5 Pro is, for now, the best laptop gaming we have tested in 2021. The machine ticks all the boxes of what is expected of a laptop made for gaming: its performance is excellent, its display quality is really up to date, and its dissipation system is proving to be harshly practical. With this device, Lenovo even goes a little further than most of its competitors by offering us a quality of finish that is truly impeccable on a PC of this type (we almost equal the attention to detail of Alienware).

The brand also had an excellent idea to bet on an IPS screen at the 16:10 ratio. The display space gained compared to a classic 16:9 panel is very appreciable to use the Legion 5 Pro in-game, but also in an office and multimedia context. Cardboard full, therefore, except autonomy which does not make a strong impression at all.

  1. Dell XPS 15 (2020)

At Dell, the XPS 15 is a safe bet. This high-end model takes advantage of its 15.6-inch format to combine a high-performance processor and a dedicated graphics card. Perfect for making it a truly versatile work companion. Not to spoil anything, the Texan manufacturer's laptop can bring an excellent iPS panel to its credit in 16:10 aspect type and fragile borders—an absolute visual pleasure daily.

XPS range obliges, the quality of assembly and the good aesthetic taste are again at the rendezvous. Two criticisms to make, however: the price of the best-equipped versions seems to us once again too high, and the connectivity (entirely USB-C) is handicapping daily.

Best Mid-Range Laptops In Kenya

  1. Acer Swift 3 (Ryzen 7 4700U)

Well designed, with solid performance thanks to its AMD processor under Zen 2 architecture, but also a robust autonomy that allows you to hold a whole day of work on battery, or even more, the Acer Swift 3 is a reliable and efficient machine offered at an honest price. Efficient in office automation and multimedia, it also has complete connectivity designed for office work.

However, this faithful machine has some flaws, such as a screen lacking a little brightness (readability in whole light will take a hit) or an absence of Thunderbolt connectivity inherent in the AMD platform. Is it serious for targeted use? We leave you to judge.

  1. HP Omen 15 EK1

Imperfect but rather compact and powerful enough to launch all the latest games in perfect conditions in 1080p, the HP Omen 15 deserves its place in our comparison. If it does not demerit on performance, the machine can also count on a good quality 300 Hz screen, complete connectivity and a sober design (although quite bland).

On the other hand, it is criticized for a noisy dissipation system and a certain stagnation in terms of the chassis. The presence of an older generation Intel processor can also leave the user hungry in search of state-of-the-art performance. In return, this partially dated configuration allows the OMEN 15 to be regularly sold.

  1. ASUS Zenbook 13 OLED UM325

This is probably the best ultraportable of the year 2021. It is, therefore, not by chance that it lands in our comparison. Concretely, ASUS manages to add up a significant number of good surprises to deliver us a small computer of 13 inches silent, powerful, enduring and very pleasant to carry everywhere with you. Its main asset remains the superb OLED screen that ASUS offers us for a relatively affordable price. This beautiful screen magnifies all the content. Let it be said, watching Netflix on an ultraportable has rarely been so enjoyable.

On the other hand, be careful with the keyboard whose keys, a little small, will require a time of adaptation. We also regret that the 16:10 aspect type is not adopted for the screen, but this probably has to do with ASUS' supply chain for its OLED screens.

  1. Apple MacBook Air M1 (2020)

In its current form, the Apple MacBook Air had not been unanimous when it was initially launched in 2018. Two years later, however, Apple introduced a new version of the device, incorporating a new processor and what a processor! The Apple M1, designed in-house and added to the MacBook Pro 13, has given a new interest to the Cupertino giant's ultraportable. The latter no longer heats up, enjoys gargantuan autonomy, and can boast excellent performance, including photo editing or occasional video editing.

Much more versatile, the MacBook Air has entered a new era in 2020. It was in these difficult conditions not to recommend it to you. As always on MacBooks, at least for now, the reduced connectivity is disappointing on the other hand — and even quite painful daily.

Best Entry-Level Laptops In Kenya

  1. Huawei MateBook D16

Versatile and attractive, this is how we summarized in broad strokes our impression of the perfect Huawei MateBook D16. Equipped with a large 16-inch IPS display and an AMD Ryzen processor under Zen 2 architecture, the device is effective in a nice variety of situations.

However, it shines above all by its price placement and the excellent equipment/price ratio it offers. If you're looking for an affordable laptop with generous dimensions and a processor powerful enough for office automation and multimedia, you've found your champion.

  1. Dell G5 15 2020

A somewhat atypical machine in terms of design, the Dell G5 15 is an ageing gaming laptop that benefits from increasingly significant and frequent discounts. Its current configuration allows it to play correctly in 1080p, especially in competitive titles with which it is very comfortable. Its complete connectivity and vacant M.2 slot (to add SSD in case of need) are also among the advantages of this friendly, affordable model.

On the other hand, we regret that Dell has not done better on display quality and cooling capabilities.

  1. Microsoft Surface Laptop Go

With its Surface Laptop Go, Microsoft wanted to offer students an affordable, high-performance, and compact solution. Halfway between a Surface Laptop 4 and a Surface Go tablet, the device features an efficient processor, a quality touch screen (despite a somewhat limited definition) and simply impeccable assembly quality.

Lovely and particularly "cute", this small 12.4-inch laptop is, however, shooting itself in the foot with its autonomy a little disappointing and the absence of backlight for the keyboard. The reduced storage capacity (only 64 GB) of its entry-level version also pushes us to recommend purchasing a better-equipped version, offered at around 800 euros.
