Xiaomi's Update Trick: Get Early Smartphone Updates by Switching Countries

I have been using Xiaomi smartphones for years. I got in with the Mi Mix 4 back in 2019. Also, with the Xiaomi redmi note 10, I am already on the road for some time and, up to one point, delighted – Xiaomi's update policy could be better. However, at least one small trick, which in many cases in Kenyan prematurely shovels updates on the manufacturer's devices.

Xiaomi's Update Trick: Get Early Smartphone Updates by Switching Countries

For example, a few weeks ago, I was annoyed that the Xiaomi redmi note ten was lagging far behind in the security patches and had not received an update at all in 2021. At the moment, I also have the redmi 9(Came across this device in early May) for reporting again, and I have not yet come to the fore in the distribution of MIUI 12.5. Waiting can make you impatient. But this does not have to be the case. In this guide ill show, you how?

The "trick" that leads to faster updates on Xiaomi smartphones is so simple that it's surprising:

Switch to the Settings pane.
Now calls the "More Settings" subarea.
Click here to go to the "Region" section.
Now sets to "India."
Switches back to the main menu of the settings,
Now calls "About the phone."
Click on the "MIUI version."
Checks for updates here.

For me, it has already worked reproducibly on two devices: When searching with the region "Kenya" set, the Xiaomi redmi note ten and redmi 9A did not find an update. However, the change to the Region of India conjured up an update. Most recently, this also worked with MIUI 12.5 on Xiaomi my Note 10.

Of course, it is possible that the game also works with a region other than India. You can experiment and give me feedback In the comment section. By the way, there is no need for this trick to change the language. Also, of course, you get the EU firmware despite the change of the region. After the update search, you can also reset your area directly.

The only thing you have to accept: With Indian regional settings, some hidden apps that don't exist in Europe – such as Mi Pay and Mi Credit – pop up. As soon as you switch back to Kenya, however, they have immediately hidden again.

So if you have a Xiaomi smartphone and haven't received any updates for a long time or are waiting for a new update, but it hasn't arrived yet – change the region and let yourself be surprised!
