Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully accredited, chartered institution dedicated to a comprehensive, all-encompassing, and inclusive system of education. The university has many branches across the country which offers a wide range of programs to both Kenyan and international students.

In this article, we will be looking at one of Mount Kenya University's campuses and it is the Kitale campus.

Mount Kenya University Kitale Campus

The Mount Kenya University Kitale Campus was founded in December 2010 and opened for business as a teaching facility in January 2011 with just 17 students. Since that time, this institution has consistently provided top-notch programs that draw applicants who wish to be globally competitive.

Today, it is a symbol of research, higher education training, and infrastructure development in Trans Nzoia County. In addition to its magnificent Ksh400 million educational structure, Kwanza Research Farm is located there. In what is regarded as Kenya's breadbasket, the farm is leading studies on how to increase food output.

Mount Kenya University Kitale Campus courses

The campus offers a variety of courses including; undergraduate, post-graduate, diploma, and certificate courses. They have a total of 17 certificate courses, 10-degree courses, 13 diploma courses, one doctorate, 10 masters’ courses and one postgraduate diploma. Below is a list of all the courses.

Certificates courses

With a minimum grade of D+, you are eligible for a certificate course at the campus. The courses include:

You need to have at least a Master's degree in the relevant discipline to be eligible for a Ph.D. program. At the MKU Kitale campus, the only Ph.D. program offered is:

• Doctorate in business administration.

Mount Kenya University Kitale campus fee structure

Despite being private, Mount Kenya University has more affordable tuition costs than state universities do for students who pay for themselves. A breakdown of the MKU fee schedule is shown below:

Certificate

You will pay between Ksh 20,550 and Ksh 33,600 for a certificate course.

Diploma

You will pay between Ksh 20,550 and Ksh 34,550 every semester for a diploma course.

Degree

The cost of a degree in health-related coursework ranges from Ksh. 54,550 to Ksh. 85,550. The cost of a bachelor's degree in medicine and surgery, however, is Ksh. 129,550 per semester. This amount can range from Ksh 45,550 to Ksh 59,550 each semester at other institutions.

Masters

You will have to pay Ksh. 59,550 every semester for a master's degree. Costs for a Master's degree in a health-related field range from 70,000 to 79,550 Kenyan Shillings. The cost per semester for a clinical medicine master's is Ksh. 104,550.

PhDs

A Ph.D. will cost you at least Ksh. 200,000 each year. You must pay Ksh. 150,000 annually for any course offered by the School of Pure and Applied Sciences. in support of a Ph.D. in philosophy. You'll have to pay Ksh. 250,000 a year for it.

Mount Kenya University Kitale campus intake

Three times a year—in January, May, and August—intakes are held at the Mount Kenya University Kitale campus.  The following is the application fee: 

• Ksh 1,000 (undergraduate programs, certificates, and diplomas) 

• Ksh. 2,000 (for post-graduate programs) for applicants from East Africa 

• All applicants from outside of East Africa must pay $50 USD.
